Georgia Peace School- an unforgettable life experience

First Servas Peace School in Lamovani - an unforgettable life event.

Servas Peace School was held in the small village Lamovani that is Located in Sakartvelo (Georgia) in Dusheti municipality of Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

Six (6) best and colorful dreamlike days were the result of everything that was planned years ago and this year the most necessary and useful project was implemented in our school. I am very grateful to each person who gifted us the happiest days.

Twenty five (25) volunteers from eleven (11) countries visited Lamovani public school. It was a life event that will have never be forgotten.

To be honest, at first it was very difficult for me to plan all this, but when I met the volunteers, first online and then in person, everything became much easier. The main value that unites us all is humanity. And this wonderful and huge project based on humanity that's what we managed to do easily with our great volunteers. I would like to express my special thanks to Mehmet and his team, who stood with us and encouraged us during this period. I would also like to express my greatest gratitude to each country and to the volunteers who did useful workshops for us.

I would love to mention each of them with great pleasure. Let's start from Turkey and its super creative team: Mehmet, Merti, Selen, Ilaknur, Seyhan, Dima, Enis, Ramzi. They shared a lot of inclusive games and energizers based on peace. They did chemical experiments, taught us international dance, song and made us create an international picture together. Finally they did an intercultural garden with us where we planted some fruit and vegetables and we are looking forward to harvesting in fall. Actually we already have the result and picked the first cucumber from our wonderful garden.

Jordan- Mustafa introduced us to the Arabic language and culture.

Students in a classroom

Malaysia- Peggy taught us how to make an ice-cream with simple ingredients that made us cool in hot weather.

India- Ananta and Gargi introduced us to Indian culture and Hindi language.

South Korea- Yan, Kim, Naomi and Rani introduced us to Korean culture, acupuncture, taekwondo, the Korean alphabet, bottle painting and made crafts with the children.

The Netherlands- Matilde trained us in yoga. She helped us to follow a healthy lifestyle. She shared how to mak healthy food with students that was very beautiful and tasty as well.

Making healthy and attractive food options

Italy- Claudia introduced us to Italian culture - food, dancing and singing.

Australia- Wendy, Roderick, Maree and France- Philippe and Morel Marie also visited us and gave gifts to the students. They made us very happy.

Colombia- Ana Maria made our week beautiful with Colombian dance and taught us how to make beautiful and memorable bracelets.

USA- Jerent and Jacob organized a song day, taught us songs and at the end of the activity we all sang together.

They helped us to improve our English language communicative skills.

Mehmet teaching the origin of the peace symbol

Servas Peace School and its volunteers had a huge impact on the community of Lamovani.

  • One of the students says: ‘I want this kind of school every Month’.
  • One of the parents says: ‘ I am very satisfied and I liked it very very much. During this week every day was better. Foreigners were very good people. Each of them was very joyful, active and friendly. It will be good to continue this kind of project, so that I can meet more new people and find out more about foreign cultures. They will tell about their countries and we will learn about each country better.’
  • One of the teachers says: ‘Every day of the week was very important for me. Communicating with every person was connected to an interesting discovery. I am still in the emotions and I think for me and for every participant as well, those emotions will turn into unforgettable memories. I love you all very much.’

So, as it seems, the volunteers had a positive impact on them. They discovered new skills and learned more things in a warm-hearted atmosphere that was created by the volunteers.

Music and dance were present everyday

Finally I can say that it was my dream school, that should be continued forever and I hope we will be able to keep going on this great project in the future again.

Thank you once again to everyone for this valuable and unforgettable event of our life.
